Robert Florey (14 September 1900 – 16 May 1979) was a French-American director, screenwriter, film journalist and actor. Born as Robert Fuchs in Paris, he became an orphan at an early age and was then raised in Switzerland.

In 1951, Florey stopped making features and became prodigiously active as a director of television episodes. In 1953 he won the first Directors Guild of America Award bestowed for TV direction, for The Last Voyage (1953). He also wrote eight influential books on the history of cinema.
Robert Florey was a horror movie director and actor who directed Murders in the Rue Morgue, and indirectly helped to launch Boris Karloff's career.

Robert Florey (1900-1979) was born in Paris. He pursued acting, writing, and directing one-reel films while a student in Geneva. Back in France, he assisted director Louis Feuillade on L'ORPHELINE (1921). Florey came to Hollywood as a French press representative in 1921.
