Ralph Philip Thomas MC (10 August 1915 – 17 March 2001) was an English film director. He is perhaps best remembered for directing the Doctor series of films. His brother, Gerald Thomas , was also a film director, probably best remembered for the Carry On... film series, and his son is the Academy Award -winning film producer, Jeremy Thomas .
Ralph Thomas. Director: Doctor in the House. Educated at Middlesex College, Ralph started working in films as a clapper boy. He gave up on the movie industry in 1934 going to work as a journalist. During WWII he served with the 9th Lancers cavalry regiment. After the war he joined the Rank organisation and soon became one of their directors.

Ralph Thomas was a prolific English director of film comedies. His best-known work is the "Doctor" series, which spanned from "Doctor in the House" in 1954 to "Doctor in Trouble" in 1970.
