Karla Inelisse Guilfú Acevedo was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2023 in a glittering competition held on Thursday, August 24 at the Centro de Bellas Artes de Santurce in San Juan. The 24-year-old psychology graduate hailing from Esmeralda del Sur, Patillas bested 29 other competitors to win the national title.
The Miss Universe pageant began in 1952 and since then Puerto Rico has had 26 representatives classify in the finals, including 5 winners, 11 runners-up, 8 finalists and 2 semi-finalists. With 5 wins, Puerto Rico is the third country with the most wins behind USA (9 wins) and Venezuela (7 wins).
Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2021 was the 65th edition of the Miss Universe Puerto Rico pageant, held on September 30, 2021 at Luis A. Ferré Performing Arts Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Estefanía Soto of San Sebastián crowned Michelle Colón of Loíza as her successor at the end of the event.

Afro-Latina pageant competitor Michelle Marie Colón from Loiza won the Miss Universe Puerto Rico competition, marking the first time a non-white woman will represent the island at the Miss Universe pageant in years.
