Gidget (/ ˈ ɡ ɪ dʒ ɪ t /) is a fictional character created by author Frederick Kohner (based on his teenage daughter, Kathy) in his 1957 novel, Gidget, the Little Girl with Big Ideas. The novel follows the adventures of a teenage girl and her surfing friends on the beach in Malibu .
Gidget is a comedy series about a teenage girl who loves surfing and gets into various adventures in Southern California. The show ran for one season in 1965-1966 and featured Sally Field, Don Porter, Lynette Winter and other actors.
