Jan 1, 2024 · California Approved Boating Safety Courses. Alert: Effective January 1, 2024 - Are you 60 years of age or younger? All motorized vessel operators 60 and younger are required to complete a boating safety course and obtain a California Boater Card before heading out on the water.
Every peace oficer of the state, city, county, harbor district or other political subdivision of the state is empowered to enforce California boating law. These oficers have the authority to stop and board any vessel where they have probable cause to believe that a violation of law exists.
