3,905 ft (1,190 m) Avalanche Lake is located in Glacier National Park, in the U. S. state of Montana. Avalanche Lake is southwest of Bearhat Mountain and receives meltwater from Sperry Glacier. [2] Avalanche Lake is a 2 miles (3.2 km) hike from the trailhead along the Trail of the Cedars. [3]
Avalanche lake is a scenic, fairly easy hike. The path is heavily wooded, and it provides peek-through views of the mountains and interesting river watching. The gem is the lake near the end. Many people stop there and turn around after a few photos.

Apr 1, 2021 · Avalanche Lake is a great hike in the summer and early fall. Hiking to Avalanche Lake, about five miles round-trip, climbs through beautiful forests to a spectacular mountain lake. This hike provides an excellent introduction to what Glacier is all about.

Size: 2 miles shoreline length; 106 acres. Depth: 63 feet. Elevation: 3,905. To get to the Avalanche Lake area, driving, from the west, access to the Lake McDonald area, Park Headquarters, the Apgar Visitor Center, and Going-to-the-Sun Road is via Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier, which is located approximately 33 miles from Kalispell.
