  4. Very special fishing village. Mar 2022. There’s a lot of history here in Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks. It was fun for us to peruse the streets and meet a lot of the Greek locals whose ancestors immigrated and cultivated sponges for their livelihood.

    The bronze statue is located alongside the Anclote River on Dodecanese Boulevard across the Anclote Brew area.     Even though Fred Howard Park is located outside of the Sponge Dock area I decided to add it to this guide. After viewing everything that the Sponge Docks have to offer, we like to head to Fred Howard Park for a quick swim and to enjoy the sunset.

    If you are looking to explore a little further away from the Sponge Docks I would recommend checking out these nearby parks. They make for a good day trip or a nice spot to catch the sunset and enjoy the water.
