May 28, 2016 · Very nice ( 3 mile) mostly shaded flat trail that follows the Grand River. You'll be rewarded with a fantastic view riding your bike over the Grand River about two miles into the ride. Park at the Fairgrounds on the west side of 66 just north of the bridge, to start your trip.

The Fred Thwaites Grand River Trail, also known as the Ionia River Trail, travels for just over 3 miles along the edge of Grand River. The paved pathway begins at Quarry Road and travels to the Ionia County Fairgrounds. Much of the tree-lined route follows a former rail line that once connected Ionia and Lansing.
