  2. Located on Bumps River Road in Osterville, this forever wild area is maintained by the staff at Mass Audubon's Long Pasture Preserve a few miles away in Barnstable Village on Route 6A. Both are easily accessible in the middle of Barnstable Township on Cape Cod, but be sure to bring your Deet or Pyrethrin-treated clothing.

  3. MassAudubon: Skunknett River Wildlife SanctuaryOsterville • 147 Acres • 1 mile. This mile of trails offers views of an Atlantic White Cedar swamp. The site is also home to abandoned cranberry bogs. These wetlands offer great viewing of birds and waterfowl, as well as amphibians in the spring.
