The Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Memorial, an arresting piece of public art located on Stacy Boulevard in Gloucester, Massachusetts, is a tribute to the wives and families left behind by the brave fishermen who lost their lives at sea.
The Stacy Boulevard site for the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Memorial was selected by the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association for the prominence of the location and the view it afforded of vessels entering the harbor. The City of Gloucester granted approval for the site in December of 1994.
About the Statue. The Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Memorial monument is bronze,12-feet high and located on Stacy Boulevard along Gloucester’s historic harbor. The statue’s sculptor is Cape Ann sculptor Morgan Faulds Pike and it depicts a woman with two children looking out to sea.
Jul 3, 2008 · The decades long dream of Gloucester Fishermen's Wives Association founder Lena Novello and president Angela Sanfilippo became a reality in August 2001, when the Fishermen's Wives Memorial was unveiled and dedicated. Morgan Faulds Pike's bronze sculpture stands 12 feet high on its base, a boulder of natural granite.
