The Route 66 Visitor Center is a MUST stop in Amarillo, TX. The folks are super friendly and the information they have about the Route is extensive. The center has lots of Route 66 souvenirs, maps, and books plus an interesting video about the Route, local artists items for sale, and a delightful patio to sit and enjoy the outdoors.
