Morro Rock, sometimes called the "Gibraltar of the Pacific," is the last peak of the Nine Sisters, which extend from San Luis Obispo to Morro Bay. The rock itself was mined on and off until 1963. Morro Rock provided material for the break water of Morro Bay and Port San Luis Harbor.

May 25, 2021 · Sitting 581 feet tall on the north end of Morro Bay is an impressve mound of rock known as Morro Rock. There is a short trail that starts at the south end of Morro Rock Beach and skirts along the base of Morro Bay Harbor and its famous rock.
Central Coast. Chumash tribespeople are the only people legally allowed to climb this volcanic rock, now the protected nesting ground of peregrine falcons. You can laze at the small beach on the rock’s north side, but you can’t drive all the way around it.
