Menashe (Yiddish: מנשה) is a 2017 Yiddish-language American drama film directed by Joshua Z. Weinstein. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2017, where it was acquired by A24 for U.S. distribution. The film was released in the United States on July 28, 2017.

Jul 28, 2017 · Menashe is a direct opposite of what his rabbi, The Ruv (Meyer Schwartz) says that the Talmud indicates any good man should have: “A good wife, a good home, nice dishes.” Stubborn yet prideful, he is desperate to prove to his peers that he is fit to take care of his son, despite being a widower, something that they essentially hold against him.

Revealed by Joshua Z Weinstein in his excellent semi-documentary Menashe (2017), Menashe Lustig, born in 1980, is living in New Square, New York. He is a fervent disciple of Rabbi Twersky, the chief rabbi of the Hasidic movement.
