Mar 25, 2018 · The story, which is based on real events, focuses on an opportunistic anti-hero, a taxi driver—hence the film’s title—whose primary motive is to drive his passenger, German reporter Jurgen Hinzpeter (played by Thomas Kretschmann), to Gwanju where the unrest is happening.
Review of A Taxi Driver. A Taxi Driver (2017) 9/10. This is Oscar level! 4 September 2020. This film exceeded my expectations by a lot, as I've been watching a lot of Korean films lately, this one is top notch and in many areas it's even better than Oscar winner Argo.

8.5/10. Director Jang Hoon’s A Taxi Driver (Taeksi woonjunsa) (2017) very empathetically narrates a man’s journey from a close-fisted single parent to a vehement patriot. Based on South Korea’s Gwangju uprising, this movie illustrates how an ordinary man can rise above his self-interest and jeopardize his life for a greater cause.
