YMCA Baseball Team (Korean: YMCA 야구단; RR: YMCA Yagudan) is a semi-historical 2002 South Korean comedy film. In 1905, there was a confluence of international events leading to the loss of Chosŏn Korean sovereignty, and by 1910, Japan formally annexed Korea outright.
In 1905, the Korean Y.M.C.A. Team becomes the first organized baseball team in Korea. Led by Ho-chang, Jung-lim, and Dae-hyun, a pitcher, the team gains popularity and fame as they record victory after victory.
The film YMCA Baseball Team, a historical drama, presents the arrival of baseball in Korea in 1905 by showing how Koreans encountered and learned to play this new sport. Humor and physical comedy are used to highlight the ways in which Koreans learned about the new game, and how they eventually came to make it their own.
