After serving a harsh sentence in a women's prison, Diane Stuart (Jane Greer) steps off a train at Union Station in Los Angeles -- and into life on the outside. She is greeted by her parole officer, Joan Wilburn (Lizabeth Scott), a strict but compassionate woman with high expectations for her mentee.
