    Small Island will stream “live” on the National Theatre’s YouTube channelon Thursday 18 June at 7pm. It will be available until 7pm on Thursday 25 June, however, if you want to catch the whole thing make sure you start watching by 4pm on that day. The production is two hours and 55 minutes long, including a short interval.

    The play is based on Andrea Levy’s critically acclaimed 2004 novel of the same name. It follows married coupled Hortense and Gilbert, who are travelling to Britain from Jamaica in search of a better life, and Queenie, a kind-hearted Englishwoman who opens her home to servicemen when her husband leaves to fight in the war.     Leah Harvey (Fighting with My Family) stars as Hortense, while Gershwyn Eushtache Jr (Britannia) takes on the role of her husband Gilbert.
