    Is Wild at heart a good movie?

    • Arguably the best thing about Wild at Heart is its great cast. Nicolas Cage is in his prime here and the role is, somewhat, reminiscent of the "repeat offender" he played in Raising Arizona. Nicolas Cage was great in his pre-action-hero movies. Laura Dern is equally excellent. I'd never understood the reason for her popularity in sexy roles.

    • Well, violence in itself doesn't offend me. But "Wild at Heart" doesn't have the nerve to just be violent - it has to build in its excuses. Take, for example, an opening scene where the hero, Sailor Ripley ( Nicolas Cage ), is attacked by a black man on a staircase at a party.

    Is Wild at heart still a David Lynch movie?

    • Oddly enough, the more graphic version is still shown in TV airings in the U.S. on the Sundance Channel. A symbol of Lynch's individuality and personal freedom. Wild at Heart is probably the most conventional David Lynch film I've seen. That being said, it still remains very far from mainstream.
