Incendies (French: [ɛ̃sɑ̃di] ⓘ; "Fires") is a 2010 Canadian drama film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the screenplay with Valérie Beaugrand-Champagne. Apr 27, 2011 · This is a plot for a thriller, really, and Denis Villeneuve's Oscar-nominated "Incendies" doesn't shy away from that truth. But it wants to be much more than a thriller and succeeds in demonstrating how senseless and futile it is to hate others because of their religion.

Incendies is an incredible film, and arguably Villeneuve's masterpiece. It all feels so authentic, and so perfectly (and interestingly) structured as a puzzle-mystery that still delivers layer upon layer of emotional punch and themes. But I find the ending really misjudged on two counts: a) Its so hard to accept in terms of probability.
