Paulie sounds like the most saccharine, lachrymose and sentimental garbage you could ever find, yet it's actually much better than you might expect. The daftness of the plot could so easily have set the tone for the whole film, but actually in most other departments the film is charming.

Nov 30, 1998 · Paulie (the voice of Jerry Maguire‘s Jay Mohr), a blue and green conure, carries on better conversations that half the people I know. Mohr is perfect as Paulie — with his light tenor voice and New Jersey accent, he actually sounds like you imagine a parrot would, and he never has to resort to caricature squawks.
Apr 19, 1999 · Parent Movie Review. by. For an industry that seems to never tire of repeating ideas, a film about an obnoxious parrot is a natural concept. Paulie is a bird who belongs to a little girl with a speech impediment. Specialists are called in to teach the girl to talk, and voila!
