Naked Among Wolves ( German: Nackt unter Wölfen) is a 2015 German drama film directed by Philipp Kadelbach. [1] It is based on the 1958 novel of the same name by Bruno Apitz, which was published in 1958 by the East German Publishing house. It was created for television, it is the third film version of the literary text after the 1963 version.

Taking place at the Concentration camp Buchenwald at the end of March 1945, prisoner Hans Pippig discovers in a carrying case of an incoming prisoner a Jewish child. If reported the three-year-old is sure to die. On the other hand, a violation of the rules of the camp would threaten the long prepared uprising of the concentration camp prisoners against the SS.

First Run Features' DVD of Naked Among Wolves is a fine enhanced widescreen transfer of a flawless film element. It's the best-looking First Run Features disc Savant has seen to date, and hopefully will be a yardstick for the future. Earlier DEFA releases have been letterboxed-flat, and some have suffered in quality.
