Sep 8, 2019 · Almost a Bride (1949) Film Review. Dreamy and dramatic, Corliss Archer (Temple) is a typical teenager. The only daughter of a successful prosecutor (Tom Tully), she’s dating a boy (Darryl Hickman) from the neighborhood who isn’t quite sure what their relationship status is.
May 24, 2015 · Though more complex than expected, the plot is still fairly thin, relying on the comedy of the scenario rather than building the characters more deeply or further complicating the character dynamics. Despite these faults, Almost a Bride is overall a nice watch.

The film, which was the last for both Wallace and Temple, was released on November 25, 1949, by United Artists .
Enter Kenneth Marquis, played humorously by David Niven. Marquis is in a divorce trial from his third marriage and Corliss’ father, Harry P. Archer (Tom Tully), is the attorney. He is determined to get Marquis’ wife as much of a financial settlement as possible.
