Scotland Yard Superintendent George Edward Grodman (Sydney Greenstreet) is fired after an investigation he heads up results in the wrongful death sentence of an innocent man. Grodman's replacement is the arrogant John R. Buckley (George Coulouris), who haughtily delights in his sudden promotion.
