Returning to London from a post in Africa, investigator Harry Sanders (Richard Todd) is hired by an insurance firm to look into the heavily insured loss of a dredging ship owned by American mining magnate A.J. Magnus (Dale Robertson). Signing onto the crew of Magnus' replacement vessel, Sanders learns that German-born Capt.
