The Admirable Crichton is a 1957 British south seas adventure comedy romance film directed by Lewis Gilbert and starring Kenneth More, Diane Cilento, Cecil Parker and Sally Ann Howes. The film was based on J. M. Barrie 's 1902 stage comedy of the same name. It was released in the United States as Paradise Lagoon .
Synopsis. A butler, Crichton (Kenneth More), wakes his master Lord Henry Loam (Cecil Parker), a fabulously wealthy English aristocrat with liberal views. The Lord decides that he will hold a tea for everyone in the household, including the many servants, with everyone mixing as equals.

A remake of the superior silent version starring beautiful Gloria Swanson and handsome, rugged Thomas Meighan, Male and Female (1919 - available on legitimate DVD off Amazon) this 1957 version pales in comparison to the older film directed by Cecil B. DeMille.
Synopsis. At Loam Hall in 1905 England, Lord Henry Loam, the socially conscious master of the estate, preaches equality for all, even though he enjoys a life of privilege. To prove his point, Loam instructs his three haughty daughters, Lady Mary, Catherine and Agatha, to entertain the staff at tea that afternoon.
