Artemis 81 is a British television play which was written by David Rudkin and directed by Alastair Reid. Commissioned by BBC producer David Rose, it was broadcast by the BBC on 29 December 1981. It was one of the last TV performances from Anthony Steel.

Flitting from a North Sea Ferry to Liverpool Cathedral to a laser-festooned slave camp buried under a Welsh mountain to an alien planet with two suns, Artemis 81 was a potpourri of Hitchcock blondes, dry ice, master organists, trolleybuses full of consumptive Danes, abused jellyfish and mass clinical torture with muzak accompaniment.
In the alien planet Artemis 8 1 with its two suns, Magog ( Sevilla Delofski ), the mother-goddess, is awakened from her endless sleep. Magog's two sons Helith ( Sting ), the white angel, and Asrael ( Roland Curram ), the black angel, are fighting for the control of the Earth.
It could be the most baffling show of the holiday, but ARTEMIS 81 (BBC-1, 9.0) is also one of the best of the year. This three-hour thriller, giving pop singer Sting his first big television role, is a knockout.
