Snakes and Earrings (蛇にピアス, Hebi ni Piasu) is a Japanese novel by Hitomi Kanehara. The story follows Lui, a young woman in Tokyo whose fascination with body modification and sadomasochistic sexual activity drives her to make increasingly dangerous personal choices.

Snakes and Earrings (English Subtitled) Lui is 19, beautiful, bored and unmotivated. When she meets Ama in a bar, she gets mesmerized by his forked tongue, moves in with him and has her own tongue pierced. Determined to push her boundaries, she asks his friend Shiba to design an exquisite tattoo for her back.

Snakes and Earrings (Hebi ni piasu) is a based on the novel of the same name by then 21 year old writer Hitomi Kanehara. The novel went on to win the prestigious Akutagawa Prize and sold a million copies.
