Apr 21, 2024 · Towering in the eastern suburb of Nanjing, Purple Mountain (Zhongshan Mountain National Park) has been known as one of the four most famous mountains in Southern China. It got its name because purple clouds can often be seen at the top of the mountain.
Purple Mountain or Zijin Shan (Chinese: 紫 金 山; pinyin: Zǐjīn Shān; lit. 'Purple-Gold Mountain') is located on the eastern side of Nanjing in Jiangsu province, China. It is 448.2 metres (1,470 ft) high. Its peaks are often found enveloped in purple and golden clouds at dawn and dusk, hence its name.
10 terraces & 392 steps up to the Mausoleum. Worth the climb. Took photos, especially from the bottom & top of the steps with views over the Zhongshan (also called Zijin) Mountain. Lined up at the side for the Sacrificial Hall containing Dr Sun's white marble statue, coffin chamber & inscriptions on walls.

Jul 1, 2022 · The purple mountain scenic area is quite large and has a Sun Yat-Sen Memorial, Music Hall, Observatory and a few places to see animals. If you want to see it all you may want to plan a whole day in this area!
