Basically, Irene Von Meyendorf (Marion) has a date with Hans Brausewetter (Johannes Petersen I). Lili Murati (Julia) her best friend doesn't. Hans's car breaks down, and stands up Irene. Julia finds out and attempts to come to Marions rescue, and arrives at the apartment of Johannes Petersen II. That is where the mistaken identities begin.
