- 3 WOMEN (1977) Director and writer: Robert Altman. Starring Shelley Duvall, Janice Rule, Ruth Nelson. Spacek won the first of her four New York Film Critics Circle Awards for this offbeat and spellbindingly unusual film.
- IN THE BEDROOM (2001) Director: Todd Field. Writers: Robert Festinger, Todd Field. Starring Tom Wilkinson, Marisa Tomei, Nick Stahl. Spacek’s most recent Oscar nomination came for this film in which she plays the angry mother of a young man whose affair with an older divorcee has resulted in his death at the hands of her ex-husband.
