Using some of the earliest known footage of boxing, this film documents heavyweight fighting from 1882 to 1929, including rarely seen footage of such boxers as John L. Sullivan, Jack Dempsey and Jack Johnson. The film explores the boxers' experiences inside and outside the ring, and discusses the backgrounds of these legendary fighters.
