Mar 22, 2024 · Fred MacMurray plays Ben Cutler, a stage line operator forced to take over the job of marshal in Springdale after the bank is held up and his predecessor is shot and killed during the pursuit of the bandits. One of the outlaws (Robert Vaughn as Eddie) is wounded and hauled back to jail.
It's been more than twenty years since Ben Cutler (Fred MacMurray) wore a badge, but when the town's bank gets robbed, he joins the posse. After the chase, where he saw Marshal Cain (Emile Meyer) get killed, he can't say "no" when the town asks him to take over the Marshal's duties.
When the local sheriff is killed after a bank robbery, ex-lawman Ben Cutler (Fred MacMurray) collars the apparent killer, Eddie Campbell (Robert Vaughn).
