PUTZEL is an adorable, poignant, funny film set entirely on Manhattan's Upper West Side. While it does mix in some sad moments, the film ends on a hopeful, uplifting note. Walter, aka Putzel, is an endearing protagonist with whom I assume everyone can relate: We all have our insecurities and unfulfilled dreams.

Oct 10, 2012 · Overview. For Walter, a young man endearingly known as "Putzel," life literally doesn't go beyond his neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Walter's dreams of taking over his family's smoked fish emporium are disrupted by the arrival of Sally, who starts a relationship with his about-to-retire and very-married uncle.
A “putzel” is a “little putz” and for Walter Himmelstein (an endearing Jack Carpenter), being known by that nickname does not exactly bode well for an exciting life amongst the go-getters of New York City.
