A young district attorney is assigned to prosecute a serial killer, against his convictions. What results is a courtroom drama centering on the insanity plea of the killer and an examination of the relationship between psychiatry and the law.
Adapted from William P. Wood’s 1985 novel of the same name (which was inspired by the 1977-78 doings of the “vampire killer” Richard Trenton Chase), it’s about the goateed Charlie Reece (Alex McArthur), a suave serial killer who lives with his mother (future David Lynch regular Grace Zabriskie).
