Sep 23, 2021 · Reviewer: Apokolypse - - October 12, 2022. Subject: Fun Movie! I would have preferred the original ending, but since test audiences rejected it, I guess they did what they had to do. The only other complaint I have is Martin's performance. He isn't playing a sadist.
Taken in by Mushnick as a young orphan, Seymour lives in a tiny room below the flower shop and is treated fairly poorly by his employer. The light of his life is his co-worker, Audrey (Ellen Greene), a fragile, battered woman stuck in an abusive relationship.
All of the wonders of "Little Shop of Horrors" are accomplished with an offhand, casual charm. The movie doesn't labor its jokes or insist on its virtuoso special effects, but devotes its energies to seeming unforced and delightful.
