Walking Out is a 2017 American survival drama film directed by Alex & Andrew J. Smith, starring Matt Bomer, and based on a short story of the same name by David Quammen. It was screened in the U.S. Dramatic Competition section of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
It's about a soft, suburbanized 14-year old named David ( Josh Wiggins) who goes deep into the Montana mountains to visit his strong, silent outdoorsman father, Cal ( Matt Bomer ), then accompanies him on a moose-hunting trip. The expedition goes horribly awry, forcing the boy to discover an inner, primal strength he never imagined he possessed.
