   Editor's Note: I viewed a 'work-in-progress' print of Paranormal Activity 4 at Fantastic Fest, and based my review on this cut of the film. Some sound and visual effects were incomplete.

   Paranormal Activity is the franchise that won't die. What started out in 2007 a simple but effective found footage horror about a family being terrorised by a supernatural force has already spawned two sequels, the most recent of which may be the best in the series. And while this latest instalment fails to hit those terrifying horror highs, it does have its moments of tension and dread.

   The film kicks off with footage from part two – so beware of spoilers ahead. It's set in 2006, and we are reintroduced to Katie before being shown her murdering her sister Kirsti and kidnapping her son Hunter.
