Dave, a merchant seaman on a banana boat in the Caribbean, goes alone on shore leave in Nassau despite the request of his happy-go-lucky shipmates, Tony and Rocky, to join them. He befriends Carol, a pregnant, despondent young fish seller and prevents her attempt at suicide.
