Police Detective Steve McBride (Barton MacLane) grudgingly takes along his friend, reporter Torchy Blane (Glenda Farrell), to protect three men, including a doctor and a military captain, who are under threat for procuring three Chinese jade tablets at the behest of Sen. Baldwin (Henry O'Neill).
