"A Place for Lovers" is the most godawful piece of pseudo-romantic slop I've ever seen. I did see it. Yes. I sat there in the dark, stunned by disbelief. Could Vittorio de Sica possibly have directed it? De Sica, who made "The Bicycle Thief"? Even a director who had made no movies would have a hard time making one as bad as this.
A Place for Lovers was released in Italy in 1968 as Amanti and opened in Paris in September 1969 as Le temps des amants.Although Julian Halevy was given co-credit for the screenplay when the film was initially released, according to official WGA records, Halevy was a pseudonym for writer Julian Zimet.
P.S Jokes aside "A Place for Lovers" started a trend in the movies about fatal and unnamed disease flicks among lovers that's still around,now over 40 years, today. With the granddaddy of those movies "Love Story" being released two years later in 1970 which became the biggest money making film of that year! 3/10. Dull.
