Eat Drink Man Woman is director Ang Lee’s follow-up film to his recently successful comedy The Wedding Banquet, about a New York gay male couple who invent a sham heterosexual marriage to fool one’s visiting parents from Taiwan.
Story: Every Sunday the three sisters Jia-Chien (Wu Chien-Lien), who works at an airline company, Jia-Jen (Yang Kuei-Mei), a teacher, and Jia-Ning (Wang Yu-Wen), who still goes to college, sit at their father's, Chu (Lung Sihung), dining table. That's more or less their family life.

The film tells the story of a retired and widowed Chinese master chef Chu (Si Hung Lung) and his family living in modern day Taipei, Taiwan. At the start of the film, he lives with his three attractive daughters, all of whom are unattached.
