On the tough urban streets of Washington, D.C., 10-year-old Thaniel Battle (Cordereau Dye) takes up with a gang who plans to rob a shop owned by Jewish immigrant Eli Zeal (Burt Reynolds). During the robbery, Eli puts up a fight -- and in the ensuing chaos, Thaniel unwittingly shoots him.
