Rate this book. Ivanhoe. Walter Scott, Graham Tulloch (Editor, Introduction) 3.76. 95,049 ratings3,110 reviews. For this novel, Scott moved far away from the setting of his own turbulent time. He went back to the late 12th century, and to England rather than the Scottish settings of all his previous novels.

I love Ivanhoe, ever since I watched the miniseries and then read the book (the one with Ciaran Hinds - he's great as Sir Brian de Bois-Guilbert). I thought the presence of the Jews was fairly well done. We get both the general stereotypes that they are branded with and a close-up, personal look at how human they are.
