Most of the Black section of town was burned and many Black citizens were murdered by roving gangs of White racists. The violence included home-made incendiary bombs being dropped from small aircraft.

Documentary detailing a story of racial violence in 1920s Oklahoma. After a black shoeshine boy was accused of assaulting a white female, an angry white mob left 300 blacks massacred -- but only 30 people were reported dead.
The riot began after an alleged assault by a young African American man on a white female, although many newly discovered accounts suggest the incident was little more than an accidental step on the woman's toes.
