Mauprat is a 1926 French silent drama film directed by Jean Epstein, based on the eponymous novel by George Sand. Luis Buñuel, who had enrolled in Epstein's acting school, was the production assistant and had a small acting role in the film. Cast. Hubert de Mauprat, the elder brother of Tristan, the very incarnation of nobility, and his daughter, the beautiful and intrepid Edmée, undertake to tear wild-eyed Bernard away from his uncle. Still uncouth and rough, Bernard endeavors to wrest the love of Edmée away from her betrothed.
The story tells the life of a nobleman named Bernard Mauprat (Nino Constantini), who lived at the time of the French Revolution. Mauprat was raised by a bunch of abusive relatives after his mother passed away.
