A war film about a U.S. Naval ship and its crew in the Pacific, from 1943 to 1945. The film follows the challenges and adventures of the ship and its officers, including Captain Jebediah S. Hawks and Lieutenant Dave MacDougall.
Hawks seems only to be babbling, but while inspecting the smaller transport boats, Dave realizes the captain has advised him to tow the Belinda to safety. The crew assembles the boats with unprecedented efficiency, and eventually the safety of the nearby island is within sight.
