Barrie Uptown Theater (formerly Imperial 8 Cinema) was a movie theatre in downtown Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The cinema was built in 1937, and is home to the Barrie Film Festival. The building had 8 screens, though movies were only shown on 5 since its reopening.
The last functioning movie theatre in downtown Barrie. Recently known as the Barrie Imperial Cinema 8, it closed in 2009 and later reopened as the Uptown Theater. It was closed with Liam Neeson in “Ordinary Love” on March 5, 2020 due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Located in the old downtown core of Barrie, the Uptown Theatre is a step back in time. The prices are significantly better than the other two options in Barrie, but the movie selections are usually a bit older or small budget films. It's a great option to have!
