  5. Jun 7, 2023 · Tony McPhee, best known as guitarist and frontman for UK blues rock band The Groundhogs, has passed away aged 79, according to a post on the band’s social media pages. McPhee suffered a series of strokes, beginning in 2009, which impaired his ability to perform as vocalist and he eventually retired from The Groundhogs in 2015.
