Athol George Guy AO [1] (born 5 January 1940 [2]) is an Australian musician and former politician who was a member of the Australian folk-pop music group the Seekers, for whom he played double bass and sang.
This is the story of Athol Guy, about his childhood, and the influence his mother, grandmother, and aunt had on him, about his sporting achievements, and how he almost chose a military career over music.
The Seekers were formed in 1962 in Melbourne by Athol Guy on double bass, Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar and Bruce Woodley on guitar. Guy, Potger and Woodley had all attended Melbourne Boys High School in Victoria.
