Feb 28, 2023 · After these two runs in March and April, my main man Wylie Gelber is going to be leaving the Dawes lineup. Some of you may have noticed him building basses, guitars and pedal boards for the band through the years.
Since those early days, Wylie’s expanded his focus from solely keeping the Dawes battery of gear running smoothly to the newly minted Gelber & Sons, an outfit that produces truly unique and unexpected one-off guitars and basses, and also serves as a repository for all Wylie’s future endeavors.
The night was both a homecoming for the Los Angeles folk-rock band and a bittersweet sendoff as the final headlining gig for bassist and founding member Wylie Gelber, who also designs and builds one-of-a-kind guitars, basses, and pedal boards from repurposed parts under the name Gelber & Sons.
In February 2023, Goldsmith announced that Wylie Gelber would be leaving the band to focus more time on his music equipment company, Gelber & Sons. Gelber played his final full gig with Dawes at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel Los Angeles on May 5th, 2023.
